Weed Management
Even the most regularly maintained lawns in Chichester can become overwhelmed by invasive weeds. Each species responds differently to treatment, which is why we use a selection of targeted, professional-strength herbicides not the weaker products available to the public. Weed control requires persistence, often over several visits, but the results are well worth it. Over time, your lawn becomes greener, cleaner, and far more uniform.
Professional Fertilisation
Healthy lawns rely on nutrient-rich soil. Grass plants absorb essential minerals through their roots, so supplying them with the right balance of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K) is crucial. Our tailored fertiliser programme adjusts throughout the year, ensuring your lawn receives the precise formulation needed for strong growth, colour, and resilience in Chichester’s varied climate.
Moss Reduction & Prevention
Moss is a common issue, especially in damp or poorly drained areas. If left untreated, it quickly smothers healthy grass. We tackle moss using specialist, professional-only treatments—not consumer-grade products. Long-term success means addressing the underlying causes such as compaction or poor drainage, followed by effective moss control to restore your lawn’s condition.
Aeration Treatments
Over time, lawns naturally become compacted, especially those used frequently for play or foot traffic. Aeration relieves this compaction by creating small channels in the soil, allowing air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots more easily. We offer both solid tine aeration, which encourages strong root development, and hollow core aeration, which is ideal for reducing compaction and preparing lawns for top dressing.
Scarification
Thatch and organic debris build up at the base of the grass plant and eventually weaken the entire lawn. Scarification is a specialised mechanical process that removes this build-up, along with moss and lateral growth. This allows fresh grass shoots to develop, increases density, and helps your lawn cope better with drought and wear. Regular scarification is essential for long-term turf health.
Lawn Pest Control
A number of soil-dwelling insects can damage your lawn by feeding on the roots, causing brown, thinning or dead patches. Two of the most destructive pests in the UK are Chafer Grubs and Leatherjackets. Spotting Crane Flies (Daddy Long Legs) in late summer or autumn is an early warning sign that your lawn may soon be affected. Our professional pest control treatments stop infestations early and help restore the damaged areas.
Fungal & Lawn Disease Treatment
Lawn diseases often follow periods of unusual weather, and symptoms can include patchy discolouration, thinning grass, or fungal growth. By assessing the conditions leading up to the outbreak and identifying the specific disease, we can apply targeted treatments to control the infection and prevent it from spreading further.
Re-Seeding & Turf Laying
Whether your lawn needs a small patch repair or a complete refresh, we offer both reseeding and new turf installation. We use high-quality seed mixtures matched to your garden’s light, soil, and usage requirements. Our premium turf suppliers provide durable grass for busy family gardens as well as finer ornamental varieties for shaded or decorative spaces.
Wetting Agents
Wetting agents help your lawn retain moisture more effectively, reducing stress during dry spells and enhancing its overall colour. While they don’t create moisture themselves, they ensure the water your lawn receives—either through rainfall or manual watering—stays in the root zone for longer. Applying wetting agents regularly, ideally three times a year, is the best way to keep your lawn resilient during hot Chichester summers.
Growth Regulators
Growth regulators help maintain a fuller, greener lawn while reducing the need for frequent mowing. By slowing the vertical growth of the grass, the plant redirects its energy into producing stronger roots and thicker lateral growth. This makes lawns more drought-tolerant and provides a lush, dense appearance—perfect if you’re planning to be away on holiday and don’t want to return to an overgrown garden.
Top Dressing
Top dressing involves applying a thin layer of nutrient-rich material over the surface of the lawn. This treatment improves soil structure, boosts microbial activity, evens out bumps, enhances drainage, and acts as a long-lasting natural fertiliser. It also complements scarification and aeration beautifully, helping your lawn grow thicker and healthier over time.
How often should my lawn be treated?
Most lawns benefit from professional treatments every 6–8 weeks throughout the growing season. The exact schedule depends on your soil type, grass species, and any existing issues such as weeds, moss, or compaction.
Do I need to prepare my lawn before a treatment?
Generally, no special preparation is needed. However, mowing your lawn a couple of days beforehand and removing any obstacles (toys, furniture, garden items) helps us carry out treatments more effectively.
Is lawn fertiliser safe for children and pets?
Yes once the product has fully dried or been watered in. We’ll always advise you on safe re-entry times after each treatment, ensuring your garden remains a safe space for the whole family.
How long does it take to see results?
This varies by treatment type. Fertilisation and moss control often show improvements within a week or two, while weed control may take several weeks depending on the species. Aeration and scarification offer gradual but long-lasting benefits.
Can you fix a damaged or patchy lawn?
Absolutely. We offer reseeding, overseeding, and turfing solutions to restore bare or thinning areas. Once the lawn is repaired, we can put a tailored maintenance plan in place to keep it healthy year-round.
